Taneashia R. Morrell works at the Salk Institute in their tech transfer office handling licensing and other intellectual property matters. Previously, she was a Staff Attorney at the Legal Services of South Central Michigan. She was also a Judicial Law Clerk to the Hons. Rosemarie Aquilina and Hugh B. Clarke Jr. at the 30th Circuit Court and the 54-A District Court, respectively. Taneashia currently serves on several professional legal committees in California, Washington D.C., and Michigan. In 2015, Taneashia earned her J.D. cum laude from Western Michigan University and in 2017, her LL.M. from Michigan State University. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., San Diego County Bar Association, Davis-Dunnings Bar Association, and American Inns of Court.
Michael Jacques Bordeaux served on the Board from January to June, 2024. Michael has served as a San Diego County Deputy Public Defender since 2013. He earned his Juris Doctor from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Africana Studies from San Diego State University. While in Law School, Michael clerked for the Honorable Joseph A. Greenaway Jr., United States circuit judge, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, and also clerked for the Honorable Patti Jo McKay, Appellate Division for the Los Angeles Superior Court. He currently serves as a board member at-large with the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association and is a member of the California Public Defender’s Association.
Desirae Sanders has served San Diego County as a Deputy Public Defender since 2011. She has practiced in several different divisions within the office, including adult criminal defense, juvenile justice division (formerly known as juvenile delinquency), and the mental health unit. A native Kentuckian, Desirae earned her Juris Doctorate from Salmon P. Chase College of Law, Northern Kentucky University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration – Management from the University of Kentucky. Desirae has served on the Board of Directors of EBGBA the past two years, is a member of San Diego County Bar Association’s Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, and a member of several community professional organizations. When not working, Desirae spends her free time mentoring and coaching young women. She is the head women’s basketball coach at Sweetwater High School and made history this past season at the school as the first women’s basketball team to make it the CIF San Diego Section championship game in CIF playoffs.
Evangeline (Eva) Dech is a Colorado native. She graduated Magna cum Laude from Xavier University in Louisiana with a Bachelors in both Political Science and Spanish Literature. In 2015 Eva moved to San Diego to attend California Western School of Law, where she was editor of notes and comments for the Law Review. In 2018 she also graduated Summa cum Laude. Following law school, Eva pracrice consumer protection law at Kazerouni Law Group. From 2020-2022 Eva clerked from Magistrate Judge Butcher. Eva is currently works in the criminal divison of the U.S Attorney's Office. She also serves on the board of Just in Time for Foster Youth as the chair of the nominating committee. Just in Time is an organization dear to Eva's heart, where she has an opportunity to assist aged-out foster youth to not just survive, but thrive.
As a fourth grader, Geneviéve Jones-Wright decided she would use the law to make the world more just. An experienced and compassionate attorney, inspired by Justice Thurgood Marshall, Geneviéve spent the bulk of her legal career as a public defender where she learned real life lessons on the importance of equity in our society. This profound understanding has further deepened through Geneviéve's work as a founder and Executive Director of Community Advocates for Just and Moral Governance (MoGo), an impact litigation non-profit organization. In 2018 Geneviéve ran for San Diego County District Attorney. She quickly came to be regarded as a voice for "The People" and garnered the reputation of being an inspirational and human-centered leader. Beyond the courtroom and policymaking, Geneviéve is a long-time board member of David's Harp Foundation and EBGBA. In 2021 in honor of Geneviéve's tireless work, she was inducted into the San Diego County Women's Hall.
