PRESIDENT MESSAGE

Welcome to the home of the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association.

I am honored to serve as your 2024-2025 President during a year filled with opportunities for growth and connection. Established in 1976 as the Association of Black Attorneys of San Diego County, we proudly became the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association (EBGBA) in 1982.

This organization has a rich legacy of advocating for the political, economic, educational, social, legislative, and legal interests of the Black community in San Diego County.

Our focus in 2025 is to expand mentorship programs, enhance the Neighborhood Law Program, and foster collaborations, empowering Black attorneys, law students, and the broader community.

We are committed to continuing to strengthen our vibrant, inclusive network that uplifts every member. In alignment with this mission, we also support the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation (EBGBF), a 501(c)(3) entity dedicated to diversifying the legal community.

Through scholarships and initiatives, the Foundation enriches the African-American legal landscape, with tax-deductible donations promoting educational opportunities for future lawyers.

I invite you to explore our website to learn more about our mission, events, and history. Your participation is vital as we continue to build on our legacy, ensuring that every member feels welcomed and supported within this remarkable community.

Together, we can drive impactful initiatives and strengthen ties within our community, reaffirming our commitment to justice and equality.

Warm Regards,

Löan T. Shillinger
President, Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association
