Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association Endorses Attorney Lei-Chala Wilson for Southwestern Community College District Board of Governors
The Earl B. Gilliam Bar Association (“EBGBA”) announced today that it has endorsed Attorney Lei-Chala Wilson for Southwestern Community College District (“SWCCD”) Board of Governors.
EBGBA President, Attorney Dennis W. Dawson, stated: “We are confident that Attorney Wilson, formally educated in economics at SDSU, will provide necessary, responsible fiscal oversight for the Board’s 2016-2017 budget, the $389,000,000 Prop R funding, and the $400,000,000 Prop Z funding if voters approve that measure in November. She will further ensure that SWCC maintains its accreditation, promote a vibrant and safe campus, increase student learning goals, and also recognize the concerns of administrators, faculty, and classified staff.”
Attorney Dawson noted that Lei-Chala Wilson is a lawyer who was in the trenches as a deputy public defender for 24 years, is currently in private legal practice in Eastlake, has served on 17 boards and commissions over the last 25 years, and has throughout her career demonstrated an ability to work well with others and remain focused on resolving issues in a fair and equitable manner.
Attorney Lei-Chala Wilson graduated from SDSU (BA Economics) and from UC Davis, School of Law (Juris Doctorate), served as President of the NAACP San Diego Branch from 2009 – 2014, and is currently Legal Counsel to the San Diego Black Police Officers Association. She lives in Eastlake. She is the product of a military family and knows the importance of duty, respect, and honor.
Attorney Lei-Chala Wilson will be transparent, accountable, independent and accessible as a member of the SWCCD Board of Governors. She knows the importance of honesty, integrity, and efficiency. As a lawyer and respected community advocate, Lei-Chala Wilson is the best candidate to serve on the SWCCD Board of Governors.
